Fall Rod Fee Fishing at Hot Creek Ranch November 1-15

Following the very well received and successful fall rod fee fishing program at the ranch in 2005 we have made the decision to again open the ranch for this special opportunity. The California Department of Fish and Game's decision to extend the Eastern Sierra Trout season through November 15 was initially received with skepticism by the ranch. We knew the fishing would be exceptional, we didn't know how the weather would impact ranch operations through that date. What we found was the fishing was great; trying to keep the ranch open was very difficult. At the same time we wanted to let our guests have the opportunity to experience the great baetis mayfly hatches. The fishing, probably the best of they year, began each day around 10:30 a.m. and extended into mid afternoon.

As a result of the above, we made the decision to shut down ranch operations but permit a limited number of anglers, eight per day, to fish the stream each of the remaining fifteen days of the season. Needless to say, we filled each day's quota of anglers, and reports back to me were that the fishing was excellent.

This November we will again offer limited access fishing on the ranch. There will be no accommodations on the ranch, and anglers will have to make their own plans for lodging. The daily access fee will be $ 75.00 per angler, and the ranch will be opened at 10:00 a.m., closed at 4:00 p.m. Anglers need to know that once the gate is locked, it's locked till the following day. There will be a caretaker on site, and he will check each anglers access permit before fishing begins.

We are taking reservations for this fall opportunity. Payment must be made in advance, and there will be no deposit refunds after October 1. If this opportunity is of interest, please call the ranch at 760-924-5637
