Fish Report
October 15, 2018
Fishing at the ranch is as good as it has ever been right now! There are tons of fish in every run just like the old days. The creek is at normal summer flows and in as good shape as I can remember. The Caddis are still in full swing, the Tricos are unbelievable and the Baetis are really getting going as well.
The morning starts off with a Caddis migration and the female Trico hatch around 9:00, then the Trico spinner fall happens around 10:00. There is a great Baetis hatch mid day and then the actual Caddis hatch around 3 with the male tricos just before sundown. Mix in a beer and a nap from 2 to 3:30 and it makes for an incredible day of fishing!
The best Caddis patterns are the E.C. Caddis, gray para Caddis, para Caddis emerger, Low Profile Caddis and the Henry's Fork, all in sizes 20 and 22. The Tricos that are working are the male and female comparadun size 22 and the organza spinners in 20 and 22. The best Baetis are the extended body para bwo, para bwo, para Adams, Baetis sprout, sparkle dun and the cdc Baetis dun.
As always, the Fly Shop is well stocked with all of the best flies, leaders, tippet, gink, powder shake, and most anything else you will need to make the best of you day on the water. We also carry Tee shirts, Simms fishing shirts and hats, sun gloves, buffs and nets. For those of you who are new to spring creek fishing or might just want a “tune up”, we have the best guides in California to make it all happen.
We look forward to seeing you here at the ranch!
