The creek is in good shape with lots of fat, healthy fish! Stream flows are still great for this point of the season. As usual for this time of year, the weed beds have come up a bit and the fish are not stupid! Bring your A game, perfect dead drifts and small bugs! There is a caddis migration starting around 8 with the female tricos hatching about the same time. The trico spinners are as prolific as I've seen in years! That happens around 9ish.until about 10:30. We still have a few BWOs mid day. The actual caddis hatch starts around 4 and the male tricos hatch from 5 to dark. The dry fly fishing is really good from 8 'til 10:30 then slows until 4ish, then gets good until dark if it's not blowing. Mid-day and early afternoon can be pretty fun with a beetle or a hopper. We are allowing "dry/dropper" from 10:30 to 4 since the mid-day hatches are slow.
Please Note: There will be a 3% credit card fee on all credit card transactions. To avoid this fee, please bring a check or cash to settle your final bill. (No Amex)
As always, our little fly shop is well stocked with all of the best flies, leaders, tippet, gink, powder shake and most anything else you will need to make the best of your day on the water.
For those of you who may be new to spring creek fishing or could just use a little tune-up, we have some of the best guides in California to make it all happen.
We look forward to seeing you here at Hot Creek Ranch!

KEEP OUR FISH WET!!! If you must have one more fish picture, do so in the net in the water or set the shot up ahead of time. That fish should NEVER be out of the water for more than 5 seconds. NEVER lay the fish in the grass or dirt!
