Fish Report Sept 24
We are starting to feel a little bit of fall weather these days and fishing is still very good, however, they are a little more educated! It takes a perfect drift with the right bug to get bit. All flies are size 22 right now. There are a lot of fish in the creek and plenty of large fish as well. The hatches have been good with good Caddis, Tricos, spinners and BWOs, with lot's of rising fish throughout the entire creek. Keep you eyes open for Callibaetis and flying ants as well.  Around 8 AM. there is a very good Caddis migration with a great female Trico hatch mixed in. Then around 9:30, the spinner fall happens and the fish are on them! Late morning to mid-day might see some BWOs. The Caddis hatch goes about 3PM and is good until dark with the male Tricos coming off near dusk. The water flows are around 40CFS, normal for this time of year. We are dry fly only! Fishing is really good right now so plan on being on the water no later than 8AM.
KEEP OUR FISH WET!!! If you must have one more fish picture, do so in the net in the water or set the shot up ahead of time. That fish should NEVER be out of the water for more than  5 seconds. NEVER lay the fish in the grass or dirt!

As always, our little fly shop is well stocked with all of the best flies, leaders, tippet, gink, powder shake and most anything else you will need to make the best of your day on the water.
For those of you who may be new to spring creek fishing or could just use a little tune-up, we have some of the best guides in California to make it all happen.
We look forward to seeing you here at Hot Creek Ranch!
