Fall is definitely come to the Sierra! Ice around the sprinklers in the early morning is becoming an everyday thing. The fall colors are in full swing and with that come some changes on the creek. This is the time of year when things can change quickly. The flows are still great and the dry fly fishing is still really good but getting started a little later. With the cold mornings and the water temps dropping, the Tricos are all but done and the caddis are on their way out. The BWO hatch gets going around 9:30 to 10 and has been going well into the afternoon. There are more 10 to 14 inch fish than I have seen in a long time and we are seeing a ton of young of the year as well. This, along with the health of the stream bodes very well for upcoming seasons! There are plenty of really big fish as well but they are not stupid!
We have a few spots left for the walk on rod fee days but they are going fast!
The last day of walk-on rod-fee fishing is November 17th and we will then close for the winter.
This is has been a GREAT season and we look forward to seeing you on the water!
As always, our little fly shop is well stocked with all of the best flies, leaders, tippet, gink, powder shake and most anything else you will need to make the best of your day on the water.
